How I Wash My Kit

Hello lovelies! It has been a long time since my last post but I intend to get back on top of my blog and keep updating a lot more regularly! So I thought I would blog about how I clean my kit. That dreaded time consuming job, that I actually (being the clean freak I am) really enjoy.
There are two main things I use to clean my kit, a liquid soap and a solid soap. The liquid soap I use is Superdrug own brand baby shampoo to clean my sponges. I choose to use liquid soap for my sponges because I find it gets deeper into the sponge, and makes it easier to lather out the product. For my brushes I use the solid soap by on set crew equipment, it's called shampoo n' set. This is great because you can work the soap into the bristles, and it helps to work the product out much easier. I use warm soap, to wet the bristles before applying soap, ensuring the water is not to hot, this can melt the glue in the ferule of the brush if it is too hot. Once all the product is worked out of the brush (you can tell this by the soap in the brush turning white) you should rinse the brush thoroughly with fresh water. Once I have used soap to thoroughly clean my sponges and brushes, I will leave them to dry on a clean towel or a clean piece of tissue. I always ensure to leave them on the side of the brush, as if you leave them standing vertically, then the water can run back into the ferule of the brush which can loosen the glue. Another tip is to reshape the brushes whilst they are still wet, to ensure the fibres are not splayed when dry. After cleansing with soap, I will then spritz with IPA, not only the bristles, but also the handles of the brush, ensuring everything is completely sanitized. Also I will always clean the cups or glasses with IPA where I store my brushes too, just to ensure when I put them back, no dirt or germs goes back onto the handles.

That's all for now lovelies, I'm hoping to include a few products I'm loving at the moment in my next post, so watch this space!

Bo xxx
